The National Assembly of Benin will convene for a plenary session on Monday, 26 October 2026, at 10:00 AM. Lawmakers are scheduled to meet at the Palais des Gouverneurs in Porto-Novo to review the legislative agenda. Official notice of the meeting was issued through a radio communiqué released on 22 October 2026. Secretary General Christel Fourier Donkpégan signed the document to formalize the assembly's upcoming session.

Reviewing Parliamentary Activity Reports

Lawmakers will evaluate the official activity report submitted by the President of the National Assembly, Joseph Djogbénou, during the upcoming plenary session. This document details the legislative and administrative proceedings conducted under his leadership between 22 April 2026 and 30 September 2026. Members of the assembly intend to examine these records to assess the institution's performance throughout the specified timeframe. The review of this report serves as a primary item on the agenda for the assembly's meeting at the Palais des Gouverneurs. By scrutinizing the work completed by Joseph Djogbénou during those five months, the parliament aims to ensure transparency regarding the chamber's recent governance and legislative output.

Debating New Highway Code

Deputies are set to examine the draft of the new Highway Code as part of their legislative agenda. This review follows a preparatory seminar held in Grand-Popo on 20 October 2026, where members of the assembly gathered to discuss the provisions of the proposed regulations.

Formal legislative scrutiny of the document commenced on 21 October 2026. During this session, the parliamentary commission on laws began a detailed study of the Highway Code. Minister of Transport Georges Alé attended the proceedings to provide information and address queries regarding the draft. The commission's evaluation forms a central part of the upcoming plenary deliberations, as lawmakers work to finalize the text for broader assembly approval.

The third agenda item for the session concerns the ratification of the agreement establishing the African Legal Support Facility. This international agreement requires formal legislative endorsement from the National Assembly to move forward. The body will review the terms of the accord during the plenary meeting scheduled for 26 October 2026 at the Palais des Gouverneurs.
